Thesis Topic

The effects of feral cat removal on abundance of introduced rats on a Pacific island.

About Me

My wildlife career has been largely in the realm of mesocarnivore research and monitoring, and invasive species removal for conservation. In 2014 I began leading a project on the island of Rota in the Mariana Islands to remove feral cats from the jungle to assist in the recovery of the endangered Mariana crow (åga). My thesis research idea stemmed from this work and the public opinions I encountered on Rota surrounding concern about rat population responses to reduction of their primary predator.

When I have the time, I like to do all the outdoor things Humboldt and the Marianas have to offer, especially if it involves harvesting tasty things off the landscape. I also try to have a few garden plants growing at all times and like to keep poultry when I have the space.
