Thesis Topic

Barn owl response to Napa Valley fires.

About Me

I’ve always had a love for wildlife and animals and while I was an undergraduate at Cornell University, I learned that I am especially interested in birds. After Cornell, I pursued this interest by working for the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center on several different environmental outreach and field projects, from urban ecology in Washington, DC to migration banding in coastal Texas. At Humboldt, I am continuing the work of other students in the Johnson lab to study rodent control by barn owls in Napa Valley vineyards. I am particularly interested in how the birds use their habitat and how that affects wine producers’ ability to rely on them as an ecosystem service following the recent wildfires in the region.
