Thesis Topic

Disturbance Responses of Colonial Nesting Seabirds of Trinidad, California

About Me

I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and ran away as soon as possible to pursue my
undergraduate degree in a better corner of the country. In western Oregon I discovered my
love for growing organisms, green things, and the inner workings of the natural world. After
earning my degree, I was given a position with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Oregon
Coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex, working primarily in Visitors’ Services, which I did
happily for four years. This work solidified my interest in wildlife management and
conservation, which brought me to Humboldt to pursue a degree for the same goal. My research
addresses a topic with which I am increasingly interested: how human disturbance effects
seabirds and how we can mitigate for it. My interests include wildlife watching, exploring,
eating, making friends, and petting dogs.
