Thesis Topic

Assessing forest health and resilience using current and present habitat suitability,
connectivity, and wildfire risk models for multiple at-risk avian species in Northern California

About Me

I have lived in Tennessee for most of my life, where I participated in a lot of community science projects as a young teenager and spent a lot of time in the forests of middle TN. These experiences sparked an interest in a wide range of wildlife species and a passion for conservation. During my undergraduate program at the University of Tennessee, I participated in a few spatial data-driven projects that enabled me to learn spatial analysis techniques, which I quickly learned could be applied to conservation. At the same time, I started working at an environmental consulting firm, where I learned a lot of data collection techniques and gained field work experience. One of the coolest things I got to do was survey for streamside salamanders, a threatened species in Tennessee! After three years with the company, I went on to pursue a master’s degree in wildlife so I can learn more about applying spatial techniques to the conservation of species and their habitat. Eventually, I would like to work at a nonprofit organization doing conservation-related research! In my free time, I love mountain biking, birding, and hiking!
