Thesis Topic

Avian conservation on California's rangelands

About Me

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, where I explored the surrounding nature and urban wildlife in my neighborhood. While attending community college, I developed an extensive background working as a Naturalist for the National Audubon Society at their urban nature center in Northeast Los Angeles. During my time with the Audubon Society, I implemented bilingual programs to build a connection between local Latinx residents and their local natural spaces. I recently graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt (Humboldt), with a B.S. in Wildlife. During my time at Humboldt I worked as a Wildlife Technician on a small mammal research project in the redwood forests of Humboldt Co. In addition, I spent a season in Kenya studying avian insectivores and their role as ecosystem service providers on shade coffee farms. I have returned to Humboldt as a graduate student to pursue my research interests in working lands and conservation. I specifically will be researching biodiversity and conservation on California's rangelands. I enjoy spending my time knitting, reading, and gardening with my fiancé. I am also especially excited to continue working as a voice for diversity in the wildlife field.
