Bio: I grew up in the hustle and bustle of southern California city life. To make up for time spent
kicking blobs of tar across the concrete, I volunteered in southern California’s only fully organic
farm, The Ecology Center. This sparked my love for green things, and, following my passion, I
moved to Colorado to attend The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. While there, I
played NCAA softball and worked as a white-water raft guide. Inspired by the wildlife of
Colorado, I transferred to Humboldt State University to complete my undergraduate degree in
Wildlife Management. During this time, I banded at the Humboldt Bay Bird Observatory and
conducted an REU project on the vertical territories of songbirds at the H.J. Andrews
Experimental Forest in Oregon. Most importantly, I was (and still am) inspired by the ever-
the supportive community that is THE Humboldt Wildlife Department. I am enthusiastic about the
opportunity to continue my education in Dr. Matt Johnson’s habitat ecology lab. I am interested
in spatial and population ecology, especially wildlife in working landscapes. My thesis will
study how predator-prey relationships in Napa Valley influence barn owl ecosystem services.
