Matthew Morassutti (He/they)

Advisor: Nicholas Kerhoulas

Undergraduate degree/Institution: BS in Environmental Science, Western Washington University

Matthew grew up between the marshy, lake-spotted forestlands of Northwestern Ontario, and the coastal mountains of the Puget Sound. After completing his BS in Environmental Science at the Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University, he completed two service terms with Americorps. The second of which, the Watershed Stewards Program, brought him to Humboldt County in 2017 where he's lived ever since. Having worked in redwood forest restoration and management for the past 5 years, he is excited to begin studying arboreal wildlife with his advisor, Nicholas Kerhoulas. The canopy is new to Matthew, as his experience has kept his feet on the forest floor or in streams. As such, his favorite species is tied between the American Dipper (Cinclus mexicanus) and the Common Loon (Gavia immer). In his free time, Matthew enjoys hiking, cooking/baking, being lazy on beaches, and skiing.
