Thesis

California condor coastal resources utilization under proposed Northern California reintroduction

About Me

Tiana is conducting geospatial analysis of coastal resource use by the existing California condor flock in central California, in order to extrapolate projected coastal resource use at a proposed Northern California reintroduction site headed by the Yurok Tribe. Her research will utilize occurrence data as well as expert opinion from existing release facilities to identify preferred resources and geographic attributes that support condor life history requirements. Models specific to each life activity will be developed and overlaid on the area surrounding Yurok Ancestral Territory and the proposed release site in Redwood National park. Her model is expected to benefit the Yurok Tribe’s planning for condor tracking and management, and may provide key information for future releases throughout the Pacific Northwest.
